MARY LYSE’S JOURNEY
12 year old Mary-Lyse tells the story of her escape from the Rwandan genocide and eventual move to London in her own words.
This short film was produced by Allan Parker together with Eithne Nightingale from the V&A Education department for exhibition in the Museum of Childhood in London (Bethnal Green) for their ‘World in the East End’ Gallery. The film is created from an eclectic mix of stills and some video footage.
Marie-Lyse gave many talks in the UK describing her journey and often used this film to help explain the nature of refugee status to school children and to others. All contributors are credited at the end of the film.
